William Alexander Macworth
William Alexander Macworth was a contemporary of Charles Enderby (1798-1876). In 1849 he sailed with Enderby to the new British colony at the Auckland Islands. This was established by Enderby as a base for whaling under the Southern Whale Fishery Company. Macworth was to serve as Assistant Commissioner. The project was abandoned in 1852
