Chamberlin, John R., 1806-1866.

Born in Peacham, New Hampshire; came to Detroit about 1835 from Quincy, Mass.; married (first) Sally Woods, and they had two children, John and Henry; married (second) Frances Sanderson of Maine, before coming to Detroit, and they had three children, Helen Frances, and Egbert Van Schaack, born in Albany, New York in 1845. In Detroit he kept the Eagle Hotel and about 1839 the Central Railroad Hotel, which was burned, May 17, 1841. Thereupon he returned to Albany, where he remained as a flour merchant until 1850 when he went to California and remained two or three years. Was in Iowa in 1857 and died in Dubuque in 1866.
