Eggleston, Edward, 1837-1902
A native of Vevay, Ind., Eggleston was a Methodist preacher (1857-1866), a journalist, and beginning in 1871, a novelist. In the 1880s and 1890s he turned to history as a writing topic, and served as president of the American Historical Association.
