Wollaston, John Ramsden, 1791-1856
Wollaston arrived in Western Australia in 1841 with his wife, three of his five sons and two daughters. They went to Port Leschenault and bought land at Picton where the family built a house and worked a small farm. The church was built in 1848 and Wollaston was appointed chaplain for the area. In 1848 he moved to Albany and in 1849 was appointed Archdeacon.
