Schickele, Rainer
Schickele was born in Berlin, Germany in 1905. He studied agriculture at the University of Berlin where he received his Ph. D. in 1931. That year he came to Iowa State to do post-graduate work. He taught at Iowa State and George Washington University. From 1946 to 1954 he taught agricultural economics at North Dakota Agricultural College, now NDSU. He resigned to serve as head of the Land and Water Use Branch of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. He remained with them until 1965 when he joined the Agricultural Development Council. After retirement he taught at various universities. He died in 1989.
