Danforth, William H. (William Henry), 1926-

Physician (b. 1926). Danforth received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 1951. After an internship and residency at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Danforth joined the department of Medicine of the Washington University School of Medicine in 1957. In 1960 Danforth was appointed assistant professor of Medicine, and in 1965 associate professor. From 1965 to 1971 he served as vice chancellor for Medical Affairs. Danforth was appointed Chancellor of Washington University in 1971, a position which he held until 1995. He served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Washington University from 1995-1999. Danforth is currently Chancellor Emeritus.
