Blair, James William Sir, 1871?-1944.
Sir James William Blair, born at Coalfalls, Ipswich, was a politician, barrister and judge. He was admitted to the Bar on 6 March 1894 on the motion of Dr A H Boone. He became Attorney-General and a minister in government in 1903, becoming Chief Justice in 1925. After retiring from office in 1940, Sir James remained Lieut-Governor and Chancellor of the University.
