Foote, James H. (James Henry), 1825-1909
J.H. Foote, Iredell County, received his A.B. from Wake Forest College in 1852, and his A.M. in 1856. He was a teacher in Farmington and Taylorsville, 1852-59, and professor at Wake Forest College, 1859-61. During the Civil War he was Capt. of County I, 1st North Carolina Infantry Regt. and was in charge of the "Roll of Honor" office, North Carolina, Raleigh, North Carolina He was a teacher in Warrenton, Raleigh, and Wilkes counties. He served as Assistant U.S. Marshal, and as member of the General Assembly of North Carolina
