Peace Heroes Memorial Society
The Peace Heroes Memorial Society was formed to encourage the recognition of social construction and peace. Beginning with Memorial Day 1923, the society organized prayerful ceremonies at various Cincinnati cemeteries where flowers were strewn on the graves of ordinary citizens, some of whom partook in heroic civilian service. They were diverse as to religion, race and gender, but were united in the conviction that peace is essential to social order.
