Louisiana State University (Baton Rouge, La.). Museum of Zoology
The Louisiana State University Museum of Zoology was formed in 1936 when its first director, George H. Lowery Jr., assembled a few study specimens of birds in a classroom in Audubon Hall. It operated under the auspices of the Dept. of Zoology and Physiology before becoming a subsidiary of the new Museum of Natural Science around 1953, but still retained the name Museum of Zoology. When the Museum of Natural Science acquired the Museum of Geoscience around 1993, the Museum of Zoology became the Division of Zoology alongside the Division of Geoscience.
