Andrews, Michael A., 1944-
Michael Allen Andrews was born in Houston on February 7, 1944. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin (1967) and a law degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas (1970). He worked in private law practice in Houston and as law clerk for the U.S. district court judge for the Southern District of Texas from 1971-1972. Andrews served as assistant district attorney for Harris County, 1972-1976, and then returned to private practice until 1983. In, 1982 he was elected as a Democrat to the U.S. House of Representatives, where he served until 1995. In 1994 Andrews was unsuccessful in a bid for U.S. Senate.
