Locey family.

Cyrus Locey, a rancher and farmer in eastern Oregon, is often called "The Father of Malheur County." He traveled the Oregon Trail twice, lived in a California mining town, and, in 1852, settled permanently in Oregon. He attended Pacific University, worked for the Oregon Transportation Company, and held various other jobs and civic responsibilities. Maria Morfitt Locey, born in England, emigrated to the U.S. in 1843. Twice she went to the California gold fields. Besides the duties of a rancher's wife, she taught Sunday school, was the local midwife, wrote stories and poetry, and made drawings and paintings.
