Emerson, Mary Moody, 1774-1863
Mary Moody Emerson was the aunt of Ralph Waldo Emerson and a scholar in her own right. She helped raise Emerson after his father died, and had a marked influence on his life, maintaining a constant correspondence with Emerson until her death in 1863.
