Ashton family.
The Ashtons represented in these papers appear to be from the family lineage that began with Isaac Ashton (d. 1809) and Elizabeth Reynolds. Two of their sons, Isaac (d. 1818) and Samuel (d. 1837) were both cabinetmakers in Philadelphia, Pa. The peak of their furniture business was from 1790 to 1800. Another son, John, seems to have been a tailor. The three brothers were involved in maintaining and operating two farms, joint real estate ventures, and retailing.
