Warner, Ann Spence

The author, Ann Spence Warner was born in Napanee, Ontario Canada but came to Colorado as a young child. Because of periodic bouts with illness, she frequently missed school, but did graduate from the old East Denver High School located at 19th (Nineteenth) and Stout Streets in Denver. It was shortly after this period of time that Ann Spence Warner went to live on the Sidesaddle Ranch near Sedalia, Colorado to recuperate from surgery. This experience provided the motivation for her first novel. Starting in about 1918, she began writing adult and juvenile fiction for literary magazines and continued in this vein well into the 1950's. She wrote short stories and novels primarily for girls with an emphasis on the Western United States.
