Wisconsin. Division of Resource Management
The Division of Forestry, Wildlife, and Recreation was established within the new Department of Natural Resources (WIHV85-A695) in 1967. Reorganization of the department in 1977 resulted in the creation of a new Division of Resource Management which assumed the functions of the former Division of Forestry, Wildlife, and Recreation and the engineering, research, and real estate functions of the former Division of Services. The above form of name is used for all records concerning forests, wildlife, and recreation created by either division, 1967-1996. About 1996, the Division of Resource Management was reorganized into the new Division of Land (WIHV04-193) and Division of Water (WIHV03-A38).
The Division planned and coordinated a variety of programs to conserve, protect, and manage Wisconsin's outdoor resources in the areas of fish and wildlife management, forest management, state park and trail system development and operation, endangered plant and wildlife protection, and land acquisition programs for the Department.
