Larcombe, Samuel

A gift of old printing equipment from the Estancia News Herald was the impetus for creating a living history exhibition in the courtyard of the Palace of the Governors. The Press of the Palace of the Governors, a project of the Museum of New Mexico, was founded in the late 1960s, to "preserve New Mexico literary history." The Press is currently equipped with several historic presses and a variety of type faces. It has become a visitor attraction. as well as a center for the revival and pursuit of traditional book arts.

Products of the Press of the Palace of the Governors include limited edition books and portfolios, booklets, historic book arts projects, facsimile newspapers, handbills, poems, public notices, remedies and advice from the Old West, pamphlets, and a variety of ephemera. The Press of the Palace of the Governors is New Mexico's longest continually operating fine printing establishment.
