Macon, Robert C. (Robert Chauncey), 1890-1980

Robert Chauncey Macon (b. July 12, 1890, Washington, D.C.-d. Oct. 20, 1980), Major General in the U.S. Army, was commissioned in the infantry in 1916 after graduating from college. He served with the 15th Infantry in China from 1920 to 1922, and during World War II was commanding officer of 7th Infantry in the North Africa invasion and commanding general of the 83rd Infantry Division. Following the War, General Macon served as military attaché in Moscow and as deputy chief of Army Field Forces until his retirement in 1952.
