Rehr, Helen
BIOGHIST REQUIRED Dr. Helen Rehr was a prominent social worker and a pioneer in the practice of social work in a health care setting.
Rehr was born in 1919 in New York City. She received her bachelor's degree from Hunter College in 1940 and a master's in Social Work from Columbia University in 1945. She spent several years at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in the social work department, and continued her work at Mount Sinai when she returned to Columbia University's School of Social Work to work on her doctorate, which she received in 1970. She retired as Director of the Department of Social Work at Mount Sinai Hospital in 1986.
