Farrell, F. W. (Francis William), 1900-1981

Francis William Farrell (b. May 28, 1900, Chicago, Illinois-d. Jan. 27, 1981), U.S. Army officer, graduated from West Point in 1920. He served with the 35th Infantry in Hawaii and was an instructor at West Point and at the Field Artillery School. During World War II, he was chief of staff, 11th Airborne Division, and commanding general, 11th Airborne Division Artillery. Following the War, General Farrell served as deputy chief of staff for operations, U.S. Army, and commanding general of the 82nd Airborne Division, V Corps, and the 7th Army. He retired in July 1960.
