Madrid, Manuel de
Merchant, importer, mining administrator. Birth and death dates unknown. Manuel I. Madrid conducted business in Havana, Cuba, as well as in Mexico City, Veracruz, Guanajuato, and other Mexican cities. By 1847 Madrid was involved in administering mines, some of which were the investments of Ewen C. MacKintosh. In 1851 Madrid was the director of the Casa de Moneda in Guanajuato. In the 1860s Madrid's brother, Joaquín Madrid, operated a mine for the Compañía El Oro under the directorship of Nathaniel Davidson. Manuel Madrid provided financial services for this company and from 1869 to 1871 was its director. After 1877 Manuel I. Madrid's name is no longer found in the papers of this collection.
