Hatch, Frederick Winslow, 1789-1862
Born in Massachusetts, 1789, Hatch was ordained a priest in the Protestant Episcopal Church in 1811. He served a succession of parishes including, 1820 - 1830, both Grace Church at Crismont, Virginia and Christ Church in Charlottesville, Virginia where Thomas Jefferson was a member. Called to the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., 1830, Hatch was appointed Chaplain of the United States House of Representatives 1830 and 1834. He then served parishes in New York, Wisconsin, and St. Louis, Missouri, moving to California in 1856 where he preached in Marysville and Folsom. He died and was buried in Sacramento, California, 1862.
