Chairman of House Public Utilities Committee, Illinois Legislative Council (1967-1971), National Legislative Conference (1971-1972), and Senate Transportation and Public Utilities Committee: co-vice chairman of Illinois Transportation Study Commission. In 1972 represented American legislators at the Second International Parliamentary Conference on the Environment held in Vienna. One of eight state legislators invited, in 1970, to attend a special briefing at Nato Headquarters in Belgium.
