Fargo Fortnightly Club.

Founded 1895 under the name Fortnightly Literary Club, name changed in 1896 to Fortnightly Club, and circa 1955 to Fargo Fortnightly Club. The club joined the North Dakota Federation of Womens Clubs in 1896. Fargo Fortnightly Club is active in civic and educational affairs, organized its own study program. First president was Mrs. E. Folsom. During the club's existence, it supported the establishment of the Fargo Public Library, supported orphaned French children after World War I through the Fatherless Children of France Society, created neighborhood clubs that became the Parent Teachers Association, started a drive to erect a statue of Sakakawea in Bismarck, N.D., sent books to the tuberculosis sanitorium at Dunseith, N.D., worked to improve lighting in school areas, public streets, and private homes, and establish safety zones on streets adjacent to Fargo schools. Also maintains a scholarship and educational loan program for young women.
