Chamberlain, Joseph Wright, 1809-1867.

Joseph Wright Chamberlain (1809-1867) traveled the Middle West in the 1830s and settled in Leesburg, Koskiusko County, Ind. in 1840. He was postmaster and physician until 1851 when he moved to Elkhart, Ind. Chamberlain's son Orville Tryon Chamberlain (1841-1929) served in the 74th Indiana Infantry Regiment. He was a member of the Army/Navy Legion of Valor, and was an advocate for war widows and orphans. Chamberlain served as Elkhart City Attorney and U.S. District Attorney (34th District). Tully Chamberlain (circa 1844-1873) served in the 134th Indiana Infantry Regiment and worked for the Union Pacific and other railroads. He died of a gunshot wound.
