Smith, Delos H. (Delos Hamilton), 1884-1963

Delos H. Smith (1884-1963) was the architect and architectural historian of Alexandria, Virginia. Smith specialized in ecclesiastical work and practiced in Washington D. C. His projects included numerous churches, two low-rent housing projects, the Beltsville Farm Export Station, and the Capitol Building Prayer Room, on which he was a consulting architect. Smith also served as commander of the Civil Engineering Corps, U.S. Naval Reserve, from 1940-45, and as design superintendent of the Army and Navy Munitious Board at the Norfolk Navy Yard.
