Marmion family.
Marmion and Hall families of Harpers Ferry, W. Va. Represented are John H. Hall (d. 1841), inventor of the breechloading rifle, a native of Maine who moved to Harpers Ferry to establish a rifle works at the U.S. Armory there; his wife, Statira (Preble) Hall, also of Maine; their daughter, Lydia Preble Hall, who ca. 1840 married Dr. Nicholas Marmion (1798?-1882), an Irish immigrant, graduate of the University of Pennsylvania; and the Marmions' children, William V. Marmion (1840-1922), Robert A. Marmion, and Annie P. Marmion.
