Joseph Bancroft & Sons Company.
The Joseph Bancroft & Sons Company operated cotton and synthetic textile factories at Wilmington, Del., and Eddystone and Reading, Pa. It was incorporated in 1889 as the successor to a business established in Wilmington by Joseph Bancroft (1803-1874) in 1831. It became a division of Indian Head Mills, Inc., in 1961. The last factory in Wilmington closed in 1981.
