Kincaid, Edgar B. (Edgar Bryan), 1921-1985
Born to rancher and oilman Edgar Bryan Kincaid, Sr., and his wife Lucille McKee in San Antonio, Texas, Edgar Bryan Kincaid, Jr. (1921-1985) moved to Austin in 1939 to live with his aunt Bertha McKee and her husband and folklorist J. Frank Dobie. Graduating from the University of Texas at Austin in 1943, Kincaid spent much of his time on ornithological field trips in Texas and Mexico. Following the death of ornithologist Harry C. Oberholser in 1963, Kincaid began editing and researching for Oberholser’s The Bird Life of Texas (1974). A charter member of the Texas Audubon Society, he was also an active member of the Texas Ornithological Society.
