Hutchins, Jere Chamberlain, b. 1853

Born in Carroll Parish, La., Oct.13,1853, son of Anthony W. and Mary B.(Chamberlain) Hutchins; educated in the public schools of Lexington, Mo.; studied civil engineering; in 1881 married Anna M. Brooks of Waco, Tex. (who died,1900); remarried 1903, Sarah. H., Daughter of Dr. George B. Russel of Detroit. Did construction work on Missouri railroads. In 1894 manager of Detroit Citizens Street Railroad; became president and general manager of Detroit United Railroad. (Book of Detroiters, 1914 ; blue index cards)
