Blocksom, Augustus Perry, 1854-1931
Augustus Perry Blocksom (b. Nov. 7, 1854, Zanesville, Ohio-d. July 26, 1931, Miami, Florida), major general in the U.S. Army, graduated from West Point in 1877 and began his military career on frontier and scouting duty with the Sixth Cavalry. He was engaged in combat with the Apache, Sioux, and Chiricahua Indians (1879-1891). He also served during the Boxer Rebellion in China, the Spanish-American War, and in the Philippines. After assignments as commander of Camp Cody (New Mexico) and in the Hawaiian Department, he retired from Army service in 1918.
