Croneis, Carey, 1901-1972
Geologist Carey Croneis joined the Rice University faculty in 1953, designed the Geology department, and held many other university positions, including provost, before he retired as chancellor emeritus on August 31, 1971. Croneis died in Houston on Jan. 22, 1972.
