Strong, Alden George, 1885-1964
Alden George Strong (b. Jan. 1, 1885, Goddard, Kansas-d. Aug. 4, 1964), Brigadier General in the U.S. Army, graduated from college and received his commission in the Coast Artillery Corps in 1911. He served with the Postal Express Service in France and the Depot Quartermaster in Germany from 1919 to 1922, and was an instructor at the Command and General Staff School for four years. He was commander of Bermuda Base Command during the Second World War and commanding general of harbor defenses at Portland, Maine through the end of the War. He retired in September 1946.
