Borsodi, Victor H.,

Bruce Rogers was a major American type and book designer. He graduated from Purdue University and first worked as a book and newspaper illustrator. After moving to Boston, Rogers eventually joined the Riverside Press of the Houghton-Mifflin Co. as a designer in 1896. After leaving the press in 1912, Rogers created the Centaur typeface and designed for several firms, including the Harvard and Oxford University Presses. He died in 1957 at his home in Connecticut. Victor H. Borsodi was a New York City bibliophile whose collecting interest centered on the work of Bruce Rogers.
