Kingsbury, Gilbert W., 1909-

Newspaper and radio journalist.

Gilbert W. Kingsbury was born in Covington, Kentucky on April 27, 1909. He graduated from Holmes High School in Covington, and then attended the University of Kentucky, graduating in 1933 with majors in economics and journalism. In 1942, Kingsbury joined the staff of WLW Radio, Cincinnati, as assistant editor in the newsroom. In 1945 he became Washington Bureau chief for WLW. He became vice-president for public relations for Crosley Broadcasting (WLW's parent company) in July, 1953. In 1963 he was appointed Crosley's vice-president in charge of news operations. Kingsbury was active in promoting Democratic party candidates both nationwide and in Kentucky. He participated in the successful gubernatorial campaigns of Bert Combs and Edward T. Breathitt.
