Art Association of Indianapolis, Indiana

Founded in 1883 to support the education of artists who later became known as the Hoosier Group. A museum building was erected in 1905, and an art school was developed at the museum. In 1967 the art school separated from the museum and became the John Herron Art Institute. A new museum was built, and in 1969 the name of both the museum and Art Association was changed to the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
