Harris, Walter A. (Walter Alexander), 1875-1958

Walter Alexander Harris (b. Nov. 17, 1875, Macon, Ga.-d. March 15, 1958), Major General in the Georgia National Guard, was a member of the Georgia Bar and practicing lawyer before joining the Georgia Volunteers and serving in Cuba and on the Mexican border. During World War I, he commanded the 61st Infantry Brigade, 31st Division of the American Expeditionary Forces, and the 174th Infantry Brigade, 87th Division. He was honorably discharged in January 1919.
