Seddon, George, 1927-....

George Seddon was Professorial Associate, Centre for Studies in Australian Literature, Department of English, University of Western Australia. He has held Chairs in English at UWA; Geology at Oregon; History and Philosophy of Science at UNSW; Environmental Scienc at Melbourne, and has taught at universities in Lisbon, Toronto, Bologna, Rome, Venice, Minnesota and Oregon. He was Director of the Centre for Environmental Studies at the University of Melbourne (1974-82), later becoming Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Planning (1982-87). His publications include 'Searching for the Snowy, an environmental history' (1994); 'Landprints: reflections on place and landscape' (1997); 'Swan song : reflections on Perth and Western Australia 1956-1995' (1995); and 'Looking at an old suburb : a walking guide to four blocks of Fremantle" with Barbara Haddy (2000).
