Cox, John Cooke, 1817-1872.
Cox, a native of Pennsylvania, was a lawyer, farmer, and railroad executive. He served as captain and then lieutenant colonel, Commissary of Subsistance for the Union 17th Corps. Cox was brevetted Brigadier General as of July 4, 1863.
