New York times reporter and first Afro-American on the New York rewrite desk of the Associated Press. Speechwriter for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and later public relations advisor and board member of the Martin Luther King, Jr., Center for Nonviolent Social Change, Atlanta, Ga.
