Stone, John L. (John Lemuel), 1852-1933

Lemuel Stone was a member of the Hugh Stone family as found in a volume published by Rev. Richard C. Stone of Missouri, "Genealogy of the Stone Family Originating in Rhode Island," Knowles, Anthony and Company of Providence, RI: 1866. Lemuel (1781-1873) was born in R.I. to James Stone and Rebecca Sheldon. He married Anna Colvin first, and late in life, Sally Mills. It is not known when he moved to Abington PA, but it was c1803, and he came with three brothers and two sisters. Their father followed later. Lemuel's children included: Harriet Stone (b. 1803), Philip Stone (b. 1805, married Sarah Northrup), Meriam Stone (b. 1807, married Reuben Sherman), Pardon Stone (b. 1810, married N. Clark, then Ellen Tripp), Edwin Stone (b. 1812, married Louisa Smith), Hannah Stone (b. 1816, married Leonard Bachelder), Lora W. Stone (b. 1818, married Delia Griffin, Celinda C. Reynolds, Julia A. Gorman, then Dotha Fox Taylor), Anson J. Stone (b. 1820, married Rachel Stephens), and Lovisa L. Stone (b. 1823, married Joseph Chase). This document continues the genealogy of these children.
