Long, Oscar Fitzalan, 1852-1928
General Oscar F. Long, U.S. Army officer, was born in NY and graduated from West Point in 1876. He saw active service during the Indian Campaigns of 1876-79 and was aide-de-camp to Colonel Nelson A. Miles, then in charge of the Yellowstone Command. Long was appointed general in 1901 and served as general superintendent of the Army Transport Service during the Spanish American War and the Philppine Insurrection. He was married to Amy Requa, daughter of California financier Isaac L. Requa.
