Owen, William Miller, 1832-1893

William Miller Owen was a Confederate officer in the Washington Artillery of New Orleans, Army of Northern Virginia, during the Civil War. He served as adjutant and was promoted to Major of Artillery in August 1863. He was later assigned to Preston's Division, Army of Tennessee as Chief of Artillery. He was reassigned to the Washington Artillery in April 1864 as second field officer, and was wounded at Petersburg in August 1864. Owen was promoted to lieutenant colonel in 1865. He is the author of IN CAMP AND BATTLE WITH THE WASHINGTON ARTILLERY OF NEW ORLEANS.
