Marske, Charles E., 1947-

Dr. Charles E. Marske, Professor of Sociology and Anthropology at Saint Louis University and Director of the school's Criminal Justice Program, received his B.S. in 1968 from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, his M.S. in 1970 from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, and his Ph.D. seven years later from the same institution. His career includes a NDEA Fellowship at Carbondale, 1968-1971; a stint as Regional Corrections Coordinator for Indiana Criminal Justice Planning, 1974-1975; an assistant professorship of sociology at the University of Evansville, Indiana, 1971-1977; and a NEA Research Fellowship at the University of Chicago during the summer of 1977. Later that year he was appointed Assistant Professor of Sociology at Saint Louis University. He was appointed Associate Professor of Sociology at Saint Louis University and eventually Professor of Sociology. He served as chair of the Department of Sociology at Saint Louis University. In 2004, Marske left Saint Louis University to become Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Education at the University of Detroit-Mercy.
