United Confederate Veterans. Texas Division
The United Confederate Veterans, former members of the Army of the Confederacy, operated for fifty years after the end of the Civil War to keep the public memory of their cause alive. The Texas Division, led by Henry B. Askew, Lawrence Sullivan (Sul) Ross and H.B. Stoddard, included Confederate veterans who fought in Texas regiments and Confederate veterans who moved to Texas after the Civil War.
