Reaburn, De Witt Lee.
De Witt Lee Reaburn, U.S. Geological Survey topographical engineer, was born in Virginia in 1871. In 1893, he began work for the Mississippi River Commission and in 1896 he obtained his degree in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin. Reaburn held many positions in the engineering field including field assistant with the U.S.G.S. while surveying Idaho and Montana, and director of Grand Canyon National Park and Mount Rainier National Park. In the 1920s, Reaburn opened a private engineering firm in southern California and was involved in the survey for and construction of Mulholland Drive.
