Enlisted at Buffalo 12 May 1863; mustered in 19 June 1863 as quartermaster sergeant, Company D, 16th New York Cavalry, to serve three years. Discharged as sergeant, 5 Oct. 1864, for promotion to 2nd lieutenant in Company M, 2nd Mounted Rifles. Later served as a claim agent in Buffalo.
