Umpierre, Luz María
Born in Puerto Rico in 1947, Dr. Luz Maria "Luzma" Umpierre moved to the US in 1974, and received her doctorate from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania. She is a poet, scholar and human rights advocate, and has had a long academic career at various universities in the US.
