Halston, 1932-1990
Born Roy Halston Frowick in Des Moines, Iowa, Halston began his career in millinery and made his mark with his design for the pillbox hat worn by Jacqueline Kennedy at her husband's inauguration. Dubbed by Newsweek as the premier fashion designer in America in the 1960's, Halston's career began to falter as he succumbed to drug use and failed to meet deadlines. In 1984 he was fired from his own company and lost the right to design and sell clothes under his own name.
From the description of Halston sketches, 1964. (Fashion Institute of Tech Library). WorldCat record id: 214294957
