Larson, Edward Richard, 1920-1979.

Edward R. Larson joined the geology faculty, University of Nevada, Reno, in 1949, and served as department chairman, 1952-1966. He was a graduate of Columbia University, and before coming to Nevada, was employed by the U.S. Geological Survey, Alaska Branch, and taught at the Missouri School of Mines. His primary fields of interest were stratigraphy and structural geology. In 1972, he received a grant from the National Science Foundation and produced an instructional film, Across the cordillera: genesis of a geosyncline, which includes aerial film segments including geology structure in Nevada, Arizona, Utah, and California. In 1975, he wrote a history, Mackay School of Mines: reminiscences on the growth of a college.
